Meet the Groups

During the first year of Leashly the value was always custom services. With experience in rescue rehabilitation the approach was always force free.

Acknowledging and respecting each individual dog.

A German Shepherd has different needs than a Basset Hound.

A rescue dog may not have the appropriate socialization as a purebreed.

These groups are what we use at Leashly to categorize service style, events and enrichment ideas.

Well group dogs to play and engage safely. Not all dogs get along, some dogs are building confidence or learning social skills so groups are changing to promote the safest group service.

Patience is a virtue.

Most dogs don’t love everything and everybody, and they shouldn’t have to. But the goal should be that your dog can be comfortable enough to feel safe and handle experiences that will need to happen throughout their life. Slow and Steady.

Big Emotions

The goal is to manage the distance and intensity level of the dogs exposure to things they are unsure about. Being able to see the small changes in their posture or subtle signs of stress (such as lip licks and paw lifts) means you can move away from or reduce the intensity of their “trigger” – the thing that is causing them stress. The goal here is to keep your dog under threshold and begin to pair positive things with the presence of their trigger, a process called counter conditioning.

High Drive Dogs

High drive dogs will have an outlet, whether you give them one or not. Every owner or handler of a working dog recognizes drive. It is a focused intensity, a desire to work, that makes dogs overcome all obstacles in pursuit of the goal.
